As wine tour guides, we always get the same question at the end of our tours: “Where do I go in Barcelona for a glass of wine?” It is understandable: you have had a terrific time, visited amazing family-owned wineries, and enjoyed great wine and cava, so it’s only natural that you do not want the fun to stop.

But friendly as it is, Barcelona can also be a tourist trap (Las Ramblas, I am looking at you), and this is where we come in with some insider tips.

So you just want a quick glass, and maybe something to nibble before you head for dinner? Well, Quimet i Quimet has you covered. This tiny cellar opened its doors in 1913 and since then it has been in the hands of the same family (now the fourth generation). When we say it’s tiny we mean it! Two tables, a counter and NO seating.

Can Cisa/Bar Brutal takes the idea of “little cellar with some food thrown in” and runs with it. Bigger than Quimet i Quimet and a stone throw from the Picasso Museum, the cuisine has a touch of Venetian influence. They specialize in natural wines.

For those of you with a more relaxed attitude, the terrace of La Vinya del Senyor is the perfect spot to see the world go by. And if you happen to come in low season and there is nobody around, then simply admire the façade of Santa María del Mar, Barcelona’s best example of a Gothic church.

And if you spare no expenses and do not settle for second best, then you owe yourself a pilgrimage to Monvínic. More than a mere wine bar, it is a true temple to dedicated to wine. Do you not believe us? Well, how about the Wall Street Journal wondering whether it is the best wine bar in the world?

You are welcome ;)
